Gangster Squad is a movie that we didn’t have on our Most Anticipated Movies of 2012 list, but most likely would have added if we had seen this trailer before compiling the list. Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer’s latest period piece follows a squad of Los Angeles cops (Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Nick Nolte, Giovanni Ribisi, and Anthony Mackie) who are attempting to keep East Coast crime families (Sean Penn) out of a 1940s and ’50s LA.

The latest trailer makes the film look just like a live-action version of Rockstar Games’ last smash hit L.A. Noire but with far more bad-ass action. Check out the first official trailer for Gangster Squad, which is set for release October 19, 2012.
