The maiden voyage of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness was successful enough over the weekend to ground Iron Man 3 and prevent the Marvel giant from becoming the first movie of the year to three-peat atop the domestic box office. Honored as our most anticipated movie of 2013, the twelfth film of the iconic sci-fi franchise opened last Thursday and has bea... Read More »

Like many people, I've been anxiously awaiting the summer release of Star Trek Into Darkness for over a year now. But after just watching the new main trailer for Pacific Rim, director Guillermo Del Toro's latest might have just killed a little bit of that hype right before Star Trek tomorrow and now has me looking more forward to seeing some giant robots ki... In space, no one can hear you scream. Okay, there probably won't be any aliens in Alfonso Cuarón's upcoming sci-fi thriller, but from the looks of the first teaser trailer below, Gravity promises to be breathtaking nevertheless. And just imagine what it looks like in 3D! (You can find out for yourself during the previews before most prints of The Great Gats... Read More »

After launching with the second highest opening ever at the domestic box office, Iron Man 3 still had plenty of power left for a resounding repeat win over the surprisingly strong debut of The Great Gatsby during the Mother's Day weekend. The two movies were neck and neck after Friday's estimates with less than $1 million separating the action blockbuster an... Read More »

    Our Score:
I grew up as a Star Wars fan with very little interest in Star Trek. A few years ago, J.J. Abrams' Oscar-winning revival of Star Trek, a sci-fi blockbuster masterpiece, changed all that. Not only did Abrams' vision exceed the expectations of multiple generations of Trekkies, it created a new legion of fans for the next generation. And after an awesome marketing campaign that included an extended sneak peek of the tantalizing opening sequence with select IMAX prints of The Hobbit back i... Read More »

    Our Score:
Like many students, I was forced to read The Great Gatsby... over a decade ago. Before checking out the fifth and latest film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, all I could remember about it were: (1) It's considered one of the best, if not the best, works of American literary fiction. (2) Some rich guy loves some rich girl in old timey days. (3) Something about a green light, but I'd forgotten the symbolism. I'm not even sure whether I read the Cliffs Notes or the actual book.... • Iron Man 3 Review Posted by 2 weeks, 5 days ago on May 2, 2013 Comments
    Our Score:
Riding high off last year’s mega-blockbuster The Avengers, Marvel starts off the summer again with Iron Man 3, this time though back to one superhero leading the way instead of seven. While Tony Stark and Iron Man are no strangers to the summer blockbuster season (they’ve kicked them off before in 2008 and 2010), this time things are different. We are now in a post-Avengers Phase 2 type of world. The stakes are bigger and so are the bad guys. And what bigger foe for Tony and Iron M... Read More »
