During the Credits
Other than two pictures of the staffs dogs and company’s “mascots, morale boosters, and food patrol,” there are no extras during the credits of The Last of Us.
After the Credits
While at a special live performance of The Last of Us in celebration of the Remastered version’s release, creative director Neil Druckmann revealed an extra epilogue scene that wasn’t originally planned to be shown after the credits and was written as a special gift to those in attendance of One Night Live.
In the extra scene that takes place a few weeks after the ending of the game at Tommy’s dam, Joel talks about how Tommy is trying to get Joel hitched to a girl named Esther. Joel then says he has a special gift for Ellie and pulls out a guitar. Ellie watches as he plays a special song for her (Future Days by Pearl Jam), and then Joel gives her the guitar and promises to teach her. Joel shares a joke with Ellie: “What’s the bad thing about eating a clock? It’s time consuming.” They both laugh, as Joel leaves the room. The scene then ends with Ellie strumming a final note on the guitar.
This scene also matches up with “fan art” that The Last of Us artist Mark Okon released on his Facebook back in May showing Ellie playing a guitar by herself.
The “No Matter What’ and “The Last of Us” trophies are awarded based on the difficulty setting, but there is no stinger after the credits of The Last of Us.
