Dracula and Gremlins Spotted In The Last of Us Remastered

New Easter Eggs Found in 1080p Photo Mode

July 31, 2014 by

The level of detail that Naughty Dog puts into their games’ environments without question far exceeds any other developer. Not only does it look great, but the beautiful sceneries and buildings are one of the key factors of what helps bring Naughty Dog’s games to life. But while their designers are blowing away the competition, this OCD-level of detail has sometimes even turned into a problem for their team as there have been various incidents like phones numbers scattered throughout The Last of Us ending up being phone sex chat lines, using other designer’s work without permission, and even accidentally revealing The Last of Us too soon with an Uncharted 3 Easter egg.

With the levels being so full of detail and the potential to find so many secrets, the updated version of the game on PlayStation 4 with the new Photo Mode feature is just begging players to explore further and uncover even more secrets. Many of the Easter eggs spotted the first time the game was released were related to Naughty Dog’s previous games like Uncharted and Jak and Dexter, but it looks like that’s not all there were and now even more eggs and references are being discovered such as these latest throwbacks to real classic movies like Basic Instinct, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and Gremlins 2: The New Batch.

We were able to find these movies, comics (one of which called “PWD” looks an awful lot like The Walking Dead), and magazines on a shelf at the start of the Museum level after taking out the infected by the dumpster that Joel must grab. With The Last of Us Remastered now being in 1080p with better textures and Photo Mode that allows players to easily take clear HD screenshots on the fly, there’s sure to be even more hidden extras like this found that were missed by players the first time around.
