In a recent interview with Forbes, Epic Games President Mike Capps confirmed that the studio is currently not working on a new Unreal Tournament IP:
“Unreal and Unreal Tournament continue to have a huge influence on the studio here, even though we’re not currently working on an Unreal IP project.”
The latest installment in the series released back in 2007, Unreal Tournament 3, had fans of the series split over some differences in gameplay from previous games. Being a huge fan of the Unreal series, I loved Unreal Tournament 3 and think the game doesn’t get the credit it deserves for influencing popular games like Halo. Hopefully, now that Gears of War 3 has been released Epic can start working on the Unreal Engine 4 for next generation consoles and Unreal Tournament 4.
