Epic Games sent out a press release earlier today confirming that they will indeed be showing off a preview of Unreal Engine 4’s “next-generation game technology (to) select licensees, partners and prospective customers” during next week’s Game Developers Conference in San Fransisco.
With so many games still using the Unreal Engine 3 and the next generation Xbox and PlayStation systems right around the corner, it’s no surprise that UE4 is finally here. Now the real questions are: Which games will be the first to utilize its power, and how long will it be until we finally have them? Hopefully, now that Epic is almost done with their new engine they can get back to work on a new Unreal Tournament.
Epic showed off their Samaritan real-time demo on the Unreal Engine 3 last year at GDC 2011, which blew everyone away (check it out below if you still haven’t… now!), so it should be pretty interesting to see what they’ve prepared using the UE4.
