New Improvements to MediaStinger

Our Revamped Score System Explained

April 13, 2012 by

For years we’ve allowed users to vote whether extra scenes during and/or after the credits of movies and games are worth waiting around for. Last year we implemented our Top 100 feature, which ranks every movie and video game in our database based on how many people have voted that the extras are worth waiting around for once the credits roll.

Now in our newest feature we’re taking our stinger rating scale to the next level by displaying each movie and game’s current numeral score in a color-coded system that allows users to quickly and conveniently see whether they should stick around for the credits. Users can then go to individual movie and game pages, see a breakdown of the voting, and contribute to the overall score by adding their votes, too.

Here’s a breakdown of exactly how it works:

Movies and games that currently don’t have information regarding scenes during and after the credits are scored N/A (for Not Available) with a gray background.
Movies and games that don’t have any extras during and after the credits are automatically scored N/S (for No Stingers) with a red background.
Movies and games that have extras during and/or after the credits but that users have voted aren’t worth waiting around for overall also use a red background but with a negative score based on how many more No votes than Yes votes have been added by users.
Movies and games that have extras during and/or after the credits but have yet to receive any votes or have the same amount of Yes votes as No votes are scored with a zero and a yellow background.
Movies and games that have extras during and/or after the credits which users have voted are worth waiting around for overall use a green background and a positive score based on how many more Yes votes than No votes have been added by users.

Let us know what you think as this feature is still in the very early stages of development and we’d love to get everyone’s feedback!
