As the summer movie season begins to heat up, Marvel has just released the debut trailer for the Thor sequel featuring Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as the hammer-slinging god of thunder from down under. With Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Kat Dennings, and even Tom Hiddleston (Loki) returning and getting his Joker on (1:35), The Dark World looks to be just as good, if not better, than the first and even taking some cues from The Dark Knight. Check out an official synopsis below:
Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s Thor and Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
Expect tons more news over the next few weeks regarding Thor and the rest of the Avengers as Iron Man 3‘s May 3, 2013, release date gets closer and closer and a potential secret post-credits stinger could reveal even more regarding what’s next in the Marvel universe. Thor: The Dark World‘s release date in the U.S. is set for November 8, 2013.
