Movie Details
During the Credits
Oddly, there is an X-Men: Days of Future Past trailer about three minutes into the credits of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It begins about 45 seconds after the end of the first two minutes of credits, which are presented with 3D blueprints of various OsCorp products. This trailer is absent from the DVD/BD release.
While the two Marvel films will have nothing to do with each other (for now…), this decision was made as part of a contract-based deal revolving around director Marc Webb. Webb had an existing contract with Fox Searchlight to direct another film after (500) Days of Summer, so Fox agreed to allow Webb to direct The Amazing Spider-Man 2 if Sony would promote their next X-Men film for free. Again, with the two films having nothing to do with each other, this might be one of the strangest and most confusing stingers yet for fans.
After the Credits
It was originally rumored that there would be an extra scene after the credits of The Amazing Spider-Man 2; however, that extra scene actually ended up being part of the film and not during or after the credits.
While there are still no extra scenes being shown after the film’s US release, Sony has teamed up with the Shazam smartphone app to allow users who use the app during the credits to get access to a secret Alicia Keys and Kendrick Lamar song that at the end teases the members of the Sinister Six. The Sinister Six is, of course, a group of villains in the Marvel universe made up of the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Rhino, Vulture, Kraven the Hunter, and Mysterio (or the Chameleon), and who are all also enemies of Spider-Man. The Sinister Six will be getting their own movie soon from Sony Pictures; it will be directed by Drew Goddard, who is known for also writing and directing Cabin in the Woods.
Right now, anyone who has Shazam on their phone can use it while listening to “It’s On Again” to get the secret “Look closely for plans of a SINISTER FUTURE.” message and teaser within the app.
