Nike Releasing Back to the Future II MAG Shoes

Proceeds Going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation

September 7, 2011 by

It may not be 2015 yet, but Nike is getting ready to release the futuristic Nike MAG shoes seen in Back to the Future II. Nike patented the self-lacing design last year and today released a teaser video on YouTube under the user DocEmmettBrown88. The YouTube page has the description “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say that looks like shelves and shelves of 2011 Nike MAG shoes.” So it’s very likely that we’ll see the MAGs released within the coming months, most likely once it gets closer to the holiday season. Now if only Nike could make some hoverboards to go along with the shoes…

9/9/11 Update: It appears that the shoes are now available to bid on at Nike’s official eBay store with proceeds going to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Unfortunately, Nike has only made 1,500 pairs of the MAG shoes and as a result the auctions have already skyrocketed into the thousands. What’s even worse is that the shoes don’t even feature the powerlace feature, which was the whole point of the shoe in the film anyway. You can check out the latest ad for the shoes below.
