With Marvel killing it at the box office with their team of superheroes who star in their own movies and occasionally meet up to make billions of dollars at the box office, it only makes sense that they would look for more ways to strike while the iron is hot.
We’ve known for some time that their next big project would be assembling a new team of heroes in space, and today we have a first look at all of the new Guardians via the first debut trailer.
In the trailer, Marvel answers the question of just who are all these new characters for anyone unfamiliar with their comic book origins. The trailer also teases Benicio Del Toro’s role after he was revealed as The Collector in the extra scene after the credits of Thor: The Dark World began rolling.
Based on the trailer, it looks like director James Gunn could very well be pulling off a franchise worthy of upping The Avengers that includes a realistic look at a giant talking tree (Vin Diesel) that a tiny machine gun-toting raccoon (Bradley Cooper) rides.
Guardians of the Galaxy, our #6 most anticipated movie of the year, is set for release this summer on August 4, 2014, and also stars WWE star Dave Batista, Zoe Saldana, and Chris Pratt.
