During the Credits

After a quick “The Guardians of the Galaxy will return” message, there is an extra scene showing the fate of one of the characters during the very start of the credits of Guardians of the Galaxy.

The extra scene shows the new baby Groot dancing in his pot in the foreground; Drax cleans his blade in the background. After a while, Drax turns his head to look suspiciously at Groot, but Groot stops dancing and remains completely still. When Drax diverts his attention back to cleaning his blade, Groot resumes dancing to “I Want You Back”. The scene lasts a little under a minute.

After the Credits

Like other Marvel Phase 2 films, there is a Guardians of the Galaxy-related stinger after the credits of the film.

After the credits of Guardians of the Galaxy, there is a short scene back at Knowhere with The Collector sitting in his destroyed base. Cosmo, a dog that was formerly a part of his collection, comes up to The Collector and licks his face. A voice offscreen remarks, “Why do you let him lick you like that?” The camera turns to reveal Howard the Duck (Seth Green), who says, “Gross.” Howard, also a former part of the collection, is sitting outside his broken display case on top of Adam Warlock’s cocoon. Director James Gunn has confirmed that Adam Warlock is a pivotal character in a future Marvel movie.

The sequence opens on Benecio del Toro’s character, The Collector, sitting in the room that he occupied at the end of Thor: The Dark World. The dude is beaten up, and Cosmo, the Russian dog, comes over to lick his face. The Collector drinks from a bright green cup, but says nothing. He looks exhausted, and defeated. “What do you let him lick you like that for?” a voice asks from off screen. The camera pans over… and it’s Howard the Duck! “Gross,” the duck adds, before drinking from his own, similar cup. The clip ends with the title card, “Howard the Duck created by Steve Gerber and Val Mayerik.”

The mid-credits scene starts off with Drax the Destroyer polishing his weapon, which pans out to show an adorable little baby Groot, after being revived from his destruction in the movie, dancing to “I Want You Back” by the Jackson 5 in a plant pot. Drax looks back and forth between the weapon and baby Groot a few times, with Groot freezing mid-dance every time Drax looks away, and the scene ends with Groot still dancing.

    Thanks for the assistance everyone!

As of right now, we have the description of the POST CREDITS stinger. We as of yet are waiting to see if there is a stinger DURING the credits. The scene that people think is the During the Credits stinger (the one involving Drax) IS NOT a stinger as it is not during the credits and was shown at all pre-release screenings of the film.

There have been statements made by director James Gunn saying any/all stingers were left out of pre-release screenings. Since the Drax scene was shown at pre-release screenings, it is part of the regular movie and is not a During the Credits stinger.

If you do see Guardians today and there is another scene DURING the credits, please let us know.

    Thank you!

See above there are no more scenes than the one you know about in the UK version of the film

After seeing the film last week without the post credits scene and this week with the post credits screen I have to say, I don’t think it’s worth the wait. All the previous movies have given us “something” towards the next movie, all this one showed was that the Collector was alive, the rest of it was fanboi stuff for Howard the Duck, bit of a let down after going to see it a second time just to see the scene. Kugan’s comments below describe the scene perfectly, the only scenes there are are the Drax one and the CollectorHoward one, there are no other scenes in the credits in the UK version of the film.

Review coming shortly… Quick thoughts after just getting out of the theater: Easily once of the best Marvel movies yet! Awesome sci-fi that us sci-fi fans desperately crave and need to do good at the box office. The combination of sci-fi, scale, talent, cgi, and music made it feel like a modern day Star Wars and something special that could have been seen in theaters 30+ years ago.
