If you haven’t heard of District 9 yet, the marketing team behind Tristar Pictures is doing their best to inform you in some unique ways. Similar to the Cloverfield viral marketing campaign, District 9’s official site is supposedly run by Multi-National United, a fake company that will be featured in the film.
There are also more fake websites, billboards, and other advertisements that have been popping up as the release date gets closer. District 9 is set for release on August 14th, 2009 and is being directed by Neill Blomkamp and produced by Peter Jackson who were supposed to be working on the Halo movie, but suspended production after a disagreement over distribution rights.
You can check out some of the fake web sites created for the film here: Multi-National United, MNU Spreads Lies, Maths From Outer Space.
