During the Credits

Old school images of WWII propaganda to support the U.S. (including posters like James Montogomery Flagg’s Uncle Sam “I want you!” and “We can do it!” by J. Howard Miller) are shown during the first two and a half minutes of the credits of Captain America: The First Avenger. At the very end of the credits, in the fashion of the James Bond movies, there is a line stating that “Captain America will return in The Avengers.”

After the Credits

There is an extra scene (directed by Joss Whedon, who will direct The Avengers) and trailer for The Avengers after the credits of Captain America: The First Avenger; check out more details and spoilers below.

Just like in Iron Man and Thor, which featured extra scenes after the credits with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), there is an extra scene after the credits of Captain America: The First Avenger that shows Captain America boxing a heavy bag at a gym. He knocks the bag off its hanging mount just as Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) walks in. Fury asks, “Trouble sleeping?” Captain America says, “You’re here with a mission, sir?” Fury: “I am.” Captain America: “Trying to get me back in the world?” Fury: “Trying to save it.” After the extra scene there is a teaser trailer for The Avengers in 2012 with the other heroes. The Hulk is only shown in his Bruce Banner form, played by Mark Ruffalo.

Special thanks to Catmom869394 and Huy Nguyen for the stinger submissions!

suprisingly the scene where captain america meets nick fury actually occurs before the credits the scene after the credits is actually an early teaser trailer for the avengers and it shows captain america beating up a punching bag at a gym as well as the other heroes except for the hulk who is only shown in his bruce banner form but he is shown as being played by mark ruffalo they even have next summer and the avengers title cards

    • Paul Curtin

      Thanks for the correction. Updated.

I saw the movie last night and there was no after credit scene shown.

    • Angel Chavez

yes there was, they even showed the Avengers trailer

  • Catmom869394

there not showing it at screenings until friday

  • Paul Curtin

Sounds like what they did with the first Iron Man

I just got back from watching the movie and the extra scene. CANNOT WAIT FOR AVENGERS TO COME OUT. LOOKS AMAZING

It was also noticed (not by me) that Thor in the trailer has a brand new sleeveless armor, Cap has a modern costume(from which we see the bust part) when we get a shot of him and also a 1 sec flash of the costume in a window with the shield. It would be also worth noticing we can see Loki (escaping?) and holding something that could look like either a gun using energy from the cosmic cube like in Captain America : The First Avenger or maybe some case containing the Cube itself.
I don’t know where I can post my speculations but here they are :

As the red skull holds the cosmic cube, he is clearly sucked up either in asgard or in one of the multiple realms that are part of the tree, whatever it’s called, which would give a reason for him to survive until modern days.
Is the unnamed black guy in the commando Nick fury?
Also I have yet to wait for someone to carefully observe the scene where Steve/Cap stumbles in Times Square and see if there is anything worth it on the screens or around.
Anyone other than me thinks that something might have been injected in Bucky’s body when Cap first finds him tied on a stretcher? Obviously Bucky will survive, as he does in the comics and he didn’t even get a gruesome death. He only disappeared out of view. Hope we get some Winter Soldier in The Avengers

    *End of spoilers*

    • Paul Curtin

Yeah, I was thinking that too about Bucky. Probably save that storyline for a couple movies down the road when they run out of ideas.

  • HooplaNation

Movie was great could have been more meaningful action scenes rather then a quick series of them one after another.

    • Paul Curtin

Yeah, I enjoyed the movie and thought it was pretty good, but I think they messed up with the action scenes. It would have been such a better movie if they had real full action scenes and not just a montage.

  • Capt_America_does_P90X

What was with the Army Soldier sign flickering on the Time Square Monitor at the end?  Good movie, but no need to see it in 3D.  (Only a few shield tosses that were cool in 3D.)  Anxious for the Avengers movie now.  So begins all of the teaser trailers for it.

    • Juice!

Think he does more than p90x

Well it seems that we have our first stinger that we might actually be able to post on it’s movie page. Marvel made available the stinger from Captain America by putting in online.

The only thing that came out after the credits was a line of text, which are along the lines of “Captain America will be in The Avengers”… or something like that, can’t remember exactly.
