Syndicate Launch Trailer

The Reason Starbreeze Passed on 'The Darkness' Sequel

February 16, 2012 by

Most gamers probably aren’t familiar with EA’s upcoming science fiction first-person shooter entitled Syndicate — yet the game is set for release in less than a week on February 21st! Based on the game’s description and latest trailer, which you can check out below, Syndicate looks a lot like a second-rate version of last year’s brilliant Deus Ex: Human Revolution but with a constant first-person view, a little more blue color tint than gold, and a lot more action.

Set in 2069, Syndicate takes players into a dark world where corporations are vying for market dominance. With no government to question their intentions or actions, the three mega corporations — Eurocorp, Cayman Global, and Aspari — are at the forefront and Business is War.

Taking on the role of Miles Kilo, Eurocorp’s latest prototype agent, gamers have the latest bio-chip technology implanted in their head. Through this technology, known as the DART 6 chip, gamers can dilate time, see through walls, and breach the digital world and your enemies by using a variety of upgradable hacking mechanics. Syndicate blends fast-paced action and innovative chip breach gameplay to deliver a unique and brutal sci-fi shooter experience.

Syndicate is also by Starbreeze Studios, the same guys behind The Darkness, who chose to work on this instead of last week’s The Darkness sequel. Like The Darkness games, Syndicate looks interesting and at least worth a rent. If you’re still on the fence after the trailer, you can download the demo, which is available right now on PSN and XBL.
