Does the film pick up from where it ended in “The chronicles of Riddick” or at least explain what happened?

    • Mus

Yes it picks up after Chronicles and explains how Riddick ended up on the planet – saw it last night and enjoyed it

The movie follow the Director’s Cut (15 min longer) or the Theatrical version?

        • Alexander

It actually follows the Director’s cut more so than the theatrical version (cause that one ended on a strange note).. it basically has Riddick, after taking up the mantle of being the new Lord Marshal, left for dead on a barren desolate planet with nothing AND no one but himself. It’s Riddick VS the environment throughout the entire film, and doesn’t introduce the mercs until 40-45 mins into it. The entire beginning of the film is silent, grim, tense, captivating, and emotional, & it shows Riddick beaten, bloodied, and broken at the start where *spoiler*: he has to realign his leg bone protruding out from his leg and snaps it back into place by cracking his leg against a rock and using mini spikes to hold it in place… this is back to basics for Riddick, not only cause of the gratuitous bloody violence and language (there’s also some fantastic nude shots of Katee Sakoff to top it off), but also the dark atmosphere of the planet and how Riddick as well as the mercenaries have to fight for survival. It’s an intense, stalking, gripping, violent, and vividly dramatic SciFi epic that shows a more humanistic side to Riddick than we’ve ever seen to which Vin Diesel does perfectly in this film (best performance he’s given; definitely Oscarworthy). It’s the best of the trilogy by far and I can not wait for the Extended Cut that will roll around the corner come mid-December. I give David Twohy’s Riddick an A+!
