Quantum Break Teaser Trailer

Why is Quantum Break Teased for Gamescom and Not E3 2014?

May 29, 2014 by

This year’s Microsoft media briefing at E3 is starting to get very interesting for those wondering how Microsoft plans on winning over gamers. After dropping the ball last year, Microsoft surely cannot make the same mistake twice and it looks like they’re already putting the pieces in motion to try and keep gamers happy.

Just recently Microsoft announced a new Kinect-less version of the Xbox One at a $100 reduced price. This announcement seemed premature considering it could have been a huge revelation during E3 to win over fans they had lost last year.

Now, in another strange move, Remedy has announced a 2015 release date and revealed some stunning new footage of Quantum Break with more details on the game that they are teasing will be shown at Gamescom. Considering that E3 is less than two weeks away, it’s very odd that one of Microsoft’s most promising exclusive Xbox One games would be focused on presenting at Gamescom, and not E3, which is still the biggest video game event of the year.

These early announcements leave a lot of speculation on how Microsoft will handle E3 2014. The Kinect removal seemed like it was to help get the word out before getting lost in the flood of breaking E3 news. So does Microsoft simply have too many amazing new unannounced games to show in their time slot and cannot fit in one of their already-announced biggest new IPs? Seems unlikely… and more likely the game is just not ready to be shown until August. Then again, maybe this is all to create an even bigger surprise at E3. Then again, maybe Microsoft just needs even more time this year to talk about TV… hopefully not.
