Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut DLC Release Date

BioWare Announces When Fans Can Expect to Get Better Endings

June 22, 2012 by

Last March, Mass Effect 3 created one of the biggest controversies in gaming history after players got done playing through one of the greatest stories of all time. Gamers were left feeling like they weren’t offered the closure they deserved after investing hundreds of hours into the trilogy, which resulted in most instantly taking to social media, forums, and comment sections of websites to vent their frustration with the ending. Some extremely crazy fanboys even donated money to a fundraising campaign that generated over $50,000 to get a new ending.

With the Mass Effect 3 ending hysteria almost completely died down, summer is finally here and the promised free Mass Effect 3 DLC has just had its release date revealed by BioWare… and it’s next week! The free DLC pack expands on the endings of Mass Effect 3 via a series of epilogues and cinematic sequences that BioWare says will “give a sense of what the future holds as a result of the decisions made throughout the series. And it shows greater detail in the successes or failures based on how players achieved their endings.”

The Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut DLC will be out for free on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on June 26. So, dust off your copy or get another from GameFly or GameStop, and hopefully this time get the closure you originally wanted. Hopefully the ending will live up to the rest of the story told by BioWare and be the missing piece that kept Mass Effect 3 from being a masterpiece as we said in our review.
