After watching gameplay footage, it now makes sense why Game Informer gave Sucker Punch a ten page spread on inFamous 2. Turns out Sucker Punch wasn’t kidding when they said that the original inFamous was more of a tech demo that they were experimenting with while learning the true potential of the Playstation 3.
While watching the trailer it’s obvious that Sucker Punch has improved upon many of the features from the first game and is now burrowing some of the techniques used by their friends over at Naughty Dog whose Uncharted 2 turned out to be one of the best games of all time and won just about every 2009 Game of the Year award.
The first noticeable new feature that is reminiscent of Uncharted 2 is inFamous‘ new melee system which quickly switches to slow motion during the highlight of each fight. A more obvious nod to Uncharted 2 is when Cole is being chased by the helicopter and the camera switches to a shot in-front of him as he runs towards the camera, just like when Nathan Drake is being chased by a truck at the start of the Nepal level in Uncharted 2. Looks like inFamous 2 will also seamlessly transition from cutscenes to gameplay just like Uncharted 2 did so well.
