Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme Join The Expendables

Who's Next for the Sequel? A CGI Bruce Lee?

September 17, 2011 by

It seems like the success of the first Expendables film was enough to bring in some new action movie idols. After rejecting Sylvester Stallone’s offer to be in the first film, Chuck Norris has now signed on to be a part of the Expendables 2. In addition to Norris, Stallone has also been able to add Jean-Claude Van Damme and bring backย Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who will have bigger roles than they did in the first film.

Stallone has also said that he is trying to add Face/Off rivals John Travolta and Nicolas Cage to the already packed cast of returning stars that includes Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, David Zayas, Giselle Itie, Charisma Carpenter, Gary Daniels, Terry Crews and Mickey Rourke. Production for The Expendables 2 begins next month in Bulgaria with a planned release date on August 17, 2012. All Stallone needs now is a CGI Bruce Lee. What? Too soon? Here are some quotes from Stallone in a recent EW interview:

Weโ€™ll have a big showdown between me and Van Damme, which has been anticipated for a long time, so it should be a good one.

Weโ€™ve got Chuck Norris and I think Nic Cageโ€ฆ Weโ€™re trying to work out different scenarios. I like using people that had a moment and then maybe have fallen on some hard times and give them another shot. So weโ€™re always looking for actors like Michael Biehn and Michael Pare. I like those kinds of guys. Someone did it for me and I like to see if I can do it for them. We also need some new blood in there, a Navy Seal-type, because with the Expendables none of them have 20-20 vision anymore. They need some help, man.

[A John Travolta appearance is] possible. The one thing Iโ€™ve learned is what is a fact on Monday is a complete fallacy on Tuesday. A lot of it is scheduling. Itโ€™s not financial. Itโ€™s just that Bulgaria is definitely a jaunt. Itโ€™s a commitment, you know what I mean? Especially in the dead of winter.
