Captain America Beats Batman AND Superman

DC Moves Batman v. Superman's Release Date Forward to Avoid Marvel's Captain America 3

August 6, 2014 by

It’s official, Captain America has beaten both Batman AND Superman! No… not really… well… kind of… but today did involve the Cap really coming up as the victor amongst the three top-earning superheroes when DC officially announced that they are moving their Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice movie from May 6, 2016 to March 25, 2016.

This release date change was done obviously to avoid the showdown with Captain America 3 which Marvel has already announced will also be released on May 6, 2016. Surely, the huge success of Guardians of Galaxy over the weekend had something to do with DC rethinking their decision to take on Marvel. This is actually the second time Zack Snyder’s film has moved its release. Dawn of Justice was originally planned to come out in the Summer of 2015.

Obviously the box office numbers will ultimately declare the real winner of this showdown and we’ll know then if this was a smart decision by DC… but for now, Marvel and their lineup of heroes are looking like a force that not even the mighty Batman and Superman want to mess with. Captain America with his immovable shield object just went up against DC’s unstoppable force… and that force just got moved out of the way.
