Aaron Johnson Likely to Play Quicksilver

The Latest Casting Rumor for The Avengers 2

June 9, 2013 by

Hollywood is no stranger to casting the same actors to play different superheroes in different movies. We’ve seen Ryan Reynolds as The Green Lantern and as Deadpool in X-Men Origins:Wolverine, and we’ve seen Chris Evans as Captain America in multiple films already and as The Human Torch in Fantastic 4. Now it’s looking like Aaron Johnson, who’s best known for his role as Kick-Ass, will be joining Joss Whedon’s team of superheroes in Marvel’s The Avengers 2.

It’s still not set in a stone that Johnson will be playing Quicksilver (son of Magneto), so I’d take the latest reports with a grain of salt considering any time there’s an opening for a new superhero role we usually get a handful of actors who are vying for the part, sometimes none of which even end up landing the coveted role.

Even more interesting than Johnson playing two superheroes in two different big-budget movie franchises is that his Kick-Ass co-star, Evan Peters, is already confirmed to be playing Quicksilver in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, set to release in 2014 from FOX. So it’ll be very interesting if Johnson does end up also taking the role, seeing who plays Quicksilver better, and how it plays on the relationship between the two if they both also return for Kick-Ass 3.
