Ridley Scott’s Prometheus Sequel Confirmed for 2014 or 2015

Posted by on August 1, 2012

Although Prometheus wasn’t as big as other blockbusters this summer and received very mixed reviews, its $302 million worldwide gross was apparently good enough for 20th Century Fox studio to greenlight another film. Ridley Scott is already signed on with Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender set to reprise their roles. But the sequel might be sans screenwriter Damon Lindelof due to other commitments — which could be a good or bad thing depending on your position of the open-ending writing style of the first film.

Fox President of Production, Emma Watts, had this to say today while confirming that Prometheus 2 is in fact happening:

“Ridley is incredibly excited about the movie, but we have to get it right. We can’t rush it,”

Prometheus did a pretty great job of setting up a sequel, but leaving so many questions unanswered was upsetting for many and had audiences split over how they felt about the first film. It’s good to see that the first film was actually to set up a second. Hopefully with Lindelof gone we’ll get some answers this time around and not just more questions when it hits theaters sometime in 2014 or 2015.
