Dead Island Trailer

Watch the Normal and Reverse Versions

February 18, 2011 by

One of the best video game trailers in a long time randomly debuted this week for a game called Dead Island that has been flying under almost everyone’s radar . Polish developer TechLand is behind the game, a studio that isn’t known for producing major titles, with the Call of Juarez series being one of their only known titles. But if their recent trailer is a sign of things to come, TechLand is about to emerge as one of the premier developers in the industry with their new Chrome Engine 5 and Dead Island project.

Dead Island is already generating huge buzz on the internet as this trailer is not only being featured on every gaming website, but movie websites as well due to its cinematic appeal. Dead Island looks to be heavy influenced by the Left 4 Dead series which dropped 4 players into a zombie apocalypse and forced them to work together in order to survive. But Dead Island looks to advance the zombie survival horror genre and deal more with the survival aspect by focusing more on melee combat with random objects found in the open world environment (think Left 4 Dead meets Dead Rising). Dead Island is set for a late 2011 release; here’s an official synopsis:

The player is drawn into the world of Dead Island on the brink of a mysterious zombie epidemic, that suddenly and with no warning breaks out on the fictional island of Banoi. As a guest of the Royal Palms Resort, the player’s stay was supposed to be a dream holiday, a get away from daily grind into the idyllic beaches of a tropical paradise. But suddenly and faced with unimaginable terror, there is only one thing left to do: survive…

This is Dead Island…a paradise to die for
