Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Debut Trailer

Another Assassin's Creed Already?

March 4, 2013 by

Ubisoft seems keen on trying to milk the Assassin’s Creed franchise to death, and as long as fans keep buying, they’re not going to stop. Only four months have passed since the release of Assassin’s Creed III, and now we already have an announcement trailer for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Ops… er Black Flag, which is set for release later this year in October on both next-gen and current consoles like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

It’s good that Ubisoft is trying new settings for the series and the latest CGI trailer looks amazing, but the annual installments have become just as bad as Call of Duty. It’s hard to get excited for the next installment in the series so soon and when AC4 will be released on both the PlayStation 3 and 4 — another business-driven move by Ubisoft that will most likely do more to hold the next-gen version back than justify the extra money spent on a new console.

Hopefully, as we get closer to October and get more details on the next PlayStation and Xbox, we’ll see next-gen gameplay that looks as good as the trailer and have more reasons to purchase other than “social features”; otherwise, Ubisoft is going to have to cut this annual installment crap out, because eventually even hardcore AC fans are going to start getting tired.
