Priest Trailer from Comic-Con 2010

The Director of the Mediocre 'Legion' is Back

September 9, 2010 by

Director Scott Stewart has an impressive resume of special effects work on blockbuster films such as Sin City, Harry Potter, Die Hard, Blade Runner and Iron Man, but as a director, his films haven’t received much praise from critics and his last film, Legion, had mediocre box office numbers. After debuting exclusively at this year’s Comic-Con, the trailer for Priest has finally been made available on the net.

Starring Paul Bettany, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Karl Urban, and Lily Collins, Priest is set for release on May 11, 2011, right in between the releases of Thor and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Priest is an adaptation of a TokyoPop comic book; here’s an official synopsis:

Priest is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. Paul Bettany is Priest, a legendary warrior priest during the last Vampire War, who now lives in obscurity among the other human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities controlled by the Church. But when his 18-year-old niece is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires in the desolate wastelands outside, Priest breaks his sacred vows and ventures out to find her and seek vengeance upon those responsible, especially their brutal leader (Karl Urban). Priest is joined on his crusade by his nieceโ€™s boyfriend, Hicks (Cam Gigandet), a local outpost sheriff, and Priestess (Maggie Q), a member of his former legion of vampire-killers who has otherworldly fighting skills.
