23 Jump Street Will Canonize Sequels From 22’s End Credits

Phil Lord & Chris Miller tease plans to incorporate hilarious stinger gags into the next film.

April 9, 2015 by

After just revealing that 22 Jump Street‘s hilarious end credits were our favorite of 2014 (and quite possibly the best ever!), Phil Lord and Chris Miller have announced that they’re playing with the idea of actually making all those fake sequels canon in the upcoming real sequel, 23 Jump Street.

While promoting their new Fox comedy Last Man on Earth at a WonderCon panel over the weekend, Lord and Miller teased their plans for an even crazier sequel that makes use of all the fake sequels played during the end of 22 Jump Street:

โ€œWeโ€™ve found a way that we love that makes those imagined sequels canonical and yet does something that we havenโ€™t told you about yet,โ€ said Lord. โ€œThe sequels are canon.โ€

Could Schmidt and Jenko be going to film school on their next mission? Or could the rumored Men in Black crossover actually be happening? If the sequels teased in 22‘s hilarious stingers are now canon, anything could happen, and maybe we will end up seeing 23 Jump Street: Medical School, 24 Jump Street: Foreign Exchange Students, and even 2121 Jump Street in space.

There’s still no official title or release date for 23 Jump Street, but it has been confirmed that Lord and Miller are set to produce the next chapter with Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum also expected to reprise their roles as Schmidt and Jenko.
