During the Credits

The first two and a half minutes of the credits of The Boxtrolls include 2D animated drawings depicting characters and scenes from the movie. This is followed by a minute-long extra scene. After the stinger, the remaining five minutes of the credits scroll over drawn 2D backgrounds that are not animated.

Spoiler
The extra scene shows Mr. Trout and Mr. Pickles having a philosophical discussion about the connection between their world and ours as the camera slowly zooms out in a time lapse. While the miniature characters remain talking and moving in real time, the time lapse offers a behind-the-scenes look at the slow and “tedious” stop-motion animation process by revealing a life-size crew member repeatedly entering and exiting the shot to slightly move the characters. When the scene ends and the rest of the credits begins to roll, the conversation continues for a few moments.

After the Credits

There are no extras after the credits of The Boxtrolls.
