Check out the first official trailer for Edgar Wright’s (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Hit the jump for more information and the full HD trailer.

Based on the comic book series Scott Pilgrim by Bryan Lee O’Malley, the plot is described on the official website as:

Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera), bass guitarist for the garage band Sex Bob-omb, has just met the girl of his dreams. However, he must defeat Ramona Flowers’ (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) seven evil ex-boyfriends, who are coming to kill him.

Scott Pilgrim has never had a problem getting a girlfriend. Itโ€™s getting rid of them that proves difficult. From the girl who kicked his heartโ€™s ass โ€” and now is back in town โ€” to the teenage distraction heโ€™s trying to shake when Ramona rollerblades into his world, love hasnโ€™t been easy. He soon discovers, however, his new crush has the most unusual baggage of all: a nefarious league of exes control her love life and will do whatever it takes to eliminate him as a suitor.

As Scott gets closer to Ramona, he must face an increasingly vicious roguesโ€™ gallery from her past, from infamous skateboarders to vegan rock stars and fearsomely identical twins. And if he hopes to win his true love, he must vanquish them all before it really is game over.

I’ve never heard of the Scott Pilgrim series before, and like most people, I’m growing tired of Michael Cera playing the same exact character in every movie he’s in. But I have to admit, based on the trailer, this movie looks good. It kind of reminds me of the fighting in Kung Fu Hustle and how the awful Dragonball Evolution movie should have been done.
