NBA Jam No Longer Exclusive on Wii, Coming to PS3 and Xbox 360
One of the games that I had the most fun playing at this year’s E3 was NBA Jam on the Wii. Playing Jam with a couple friends at E3 brought back great memories of playing the game years ago in arcades and I even went as far as saying that NBA Jam on the Wii was more fun and the way it was meant to be played. But like most people who don’t have a Wii, I was disappointed that I wouldn’t be able to play NBA Jam on my PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. That is, until I heard that NBA Jam would be included free with copies of NBA Elite 11 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which created another dilemma. Again, like most people, I don’t want NBA Elite 11. I prefer the NBA 2K series and with Jordan being 2K11‘s gimmick this year and on the cover, I didn’t want to have to buy Elite 11 just to get NBA Jam.
Fortunately, EA Games is delaying the release of NBA Elite 11 and still releasing NBA Jam on time. EA told IGN: “‘NBA Jam’ will launch on the Wii on October 5; we’re also now going to ship NBA Jam as a standalone product on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in time for the holidays.” Smart move by EA since most people just wanted a standalone version of NBA Jam on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Now if only the PlayStation Move and Xbox Kinect were integrated into NBA Jam, then there would be a reason to buy both new motion-control devices.
