Halo 4 Confirmed on Xbox 360

Microsoft Bringing Chief Back Before Next-Gen

November 16, 2011 by

Bad news for anybody eagerly awaiting the announcement of the next Xbox gaming console and hoping that after its amazing E3 teaser trailer that Halo 4 would be the Xbox 720’s (or whatever the next system is going to be called) big launch title. Looks like we’ll be getting the next Halo before the next Xbox with 343 Industries’ Frank O’ Connor confirming that Halo 4 will be, in fact, an Xbox 360 title.

“Halo 4 will be on Xbox 360 and use a modified core of the Halo engine(s),” O’Connor wrote on the NeoGAF forums. “Not really a singular engine since it goes through fairly radical evolutions all the time.”

I’m sure there are plenty of Halo fanboys out there eating this up and counting the days until the next Halo game sometime in 2012, but this comes as a huge disappointment to me as I was really hoping Halo 4 would take the series to the next level in terms of graphics and gameplay. I doubt that will happen now with how little of a jump there tends to be from game to game in the Halo series, especially when on the same console.
