The Rock Finally Gets Back to the Action

July 19, 2010 by

Remember when Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock) left professional wrestling in order to pursue a movie career and was thought of as the next big action star in Hollywood? He even had a scene in 2003’s The Rundown where Arnold Schwarzenegger made a cameo and hinted that he was passing the “action hero” torch to Johnson. But after a couple good action movies, Johnson has yet to make another, and instead has been starring in PG children’s movies like The Tooth Fairy and The Game Plan. Seems like The Rock is just as tired of making movies for kiddies, as we are of watching them, and is finally getting back to his action genre roots. “Faster” starring Dwayne Johnson and Billy Bob Thornton is an action movie for adults, set for release this November. Here’s the official synopsis:

After 10 years in prison, Driver has a singular focus – to avenge the murder of his brother during the botched bank robbery that led to his imprisonment. Now a free man with a deadly to-do list in hand, heโ€™s finally on his missionโ€ฆ but with two men on his trail – a veteran cop just days from retirement, and a young egocentric hitman with a flair for the art of killing and a newfound worthy opponent. The hunter is also the hunted. Itโ€™s a do or die race to the listโ€™s finish as the mystery surrounding his brotherโ€™s murder deepens, and new details emerge along the way hinting that Driverโ€™s list may be incomplete.
