Avatar: The Game Trailer

This Actually Looks... Pretty Good.

November 28, 2009 by

It’s common knowledge that video games based on movies are always awful, and vice-versa; yet, as technology and video games sales both improve drastically, so has the quality of games based on movies. Just last January, Lord of the Rings: Conquest was released and to the shock of many who played the demo, was surprisingly good. While the game was very well-made, many still felt it wasn’t worth the $59.99 purchase price with other huge games being released around the same time such as F.E.A.R. 2, Killzone 2, Mirror’s Edge, Saints Row 2 and Street Fighter IV.

Now, one year later, James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game is set for release this Tuesday and is looking very promising and even has a similar multiplayer game style as Lord of the Rings: Conquest. But will the game be the blockbuster hit that many believe the movie will be or will it be left in the shadows of this year’s best games? With the recent releases of some of the most hyped games ever such as Assassin’s Creed II, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Uncharted 2; it will be hard for Avatar The Game to win over hardcore video game fans and sell copies to anybody who isn’t a fan of the movie. Check out a HD video preview of the multiplayer gameplay from Avatar The Game.
